A farmer-owned pub is set to open its own mini-farm over the Easter weekend.

Stansfield Compasses at Stansfield, near Bury St Edmunds, was bought by Phil Dennis, whose farmyard is next door, last year.

The pub is run by the owners of Benson Blakes Bar & Grill in Bury and they will be officially opening a mini-farm with mini- pigs, pygmy goats, lambs, geese, chicken and other animals.

Steve Blake of Benson Blakes said: “It is not a petting zoo, but staff will be wandering about with the sheep, guineas and rabbits and the pony will be available for rides for very small children. We believe that children should be given the opportunity to see animals in their natural state and not think that meat comes pre-wrapped.”

The pub also has a smallholding where we will be growing unusual vegetables which are not generally available in supermarkets.

You could be forgiven for thinking there was some sort of carriageway cryptology going on in Boxford at the moment – with drivers facing messages like ‘S’ and ‘7’ when they arrive in the picturesque Suffolk village.

A man has been arrested in Berkshire in connection with an Essex murder investigation.

What better way to illustrate the relationship between siblings than with a cub fight between young foxes.

Are you stuck for what to do to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend?

Water has been restored to a Suffolk school after a burst pipe and subsequent sinkhole forced it to close yesterday.

The new £1 coin being introduced next week has a hidden built in security feature to prevent forgary and a holographic image that changes depending on what angle it is viewed at.
