Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at the Fox Inn in Bury St Edmunds this evening.
Firefighters were alerted to the fire at 5.29pm.
Two engines from Bury St Edmunds were sent to the scene, following a report of smoke coming from the vents.
Crews found smoke coming from a vent externally at the base of a chimney in a two-storey timber-framed building and began investigating.
Once access was gained to the property crews checked the fabric of the building for further fire spread.
The incident was brought under control by 6.17pm by crews using small gear and a hosereel.
Hotspots were identified and cooled and crews will be re-investigating later this evening.
