A spate of vandalism in a quiet cul-de-sac has targeted a single house and left its desperate owners appealing for help.

Vandals have launched five attacks against a house in Hodson Close, on the Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds, in a matter of months, with the latest incident taking place in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

The property’s owners are now advertising a £100 reward for any information leading to conviction, having pinned their appeal to a boarded-up window that was damaged during one of the attacks.

There was no answer at the house yesterday morning, but neighbours reported that the family had been left shaken by the incidents.

One said: “I’ve lived here for 50 years and we’ve never had any trouble. It’s normally such a nice little close.

“This poor woman, I think she’s been targeted.”

The attack on New Year’s Day happened at around 12.15am, when a brick was thrown at the front of the house. It damaged three cladding tiles. The spate of incidents began at around 9pm on Sunday, November 3, when the glass in the rear door was shattered by a stone.

Then, between 6pm and 7.45pm on Thursday, December 5, a car parked outside had both its front and rear passenger-side windows smashed.

The third offence happened between midnight and 7.50am on Saturday, December 7, when a front window of the house was smashed.

Then, at around 4am on Sunday., December 15, another front window was smashed and a car had its front and rear windscreens smashed, with dents also caused to the driver’s side.
