A pub is celebrating after it was named as one of the best pubs in the country for the second time in three years.
Camra has named Bury St Edmunds’ The Dove, based in Hospital Road, as a finalist for its Pub of the Year competition.
Landlord Roger Waters said: “It’s lovely, it shows that pubs can do well – it’s all important. We always said it’s like a village pub in the town.
“We run it like a little community pub that’s what we try to do here.
“It’s my fifth pub and it’s certainly the best that I have had.”
He based the pub’s success on the quality of the beer, its atmosphere and customers.
Camra praised the pub and said its staff offer a “warm and friendly welcome” and are knowledgeable about the beers sold.
The alehouse will now go forward for the national competition to be held next year.
