Some key figures from Bury St Edmunds’ past will be making an appearance to promote attractions in and around the town.

Famous faces such as Charles Dickens and King Edmund will be at the Bury St Edmunds and Beyond Tourism Fair, which is free to attend.

The fair takes place on Thursday, October 11, at The Athenaeum from 5pm-7pm with the National Trust’s Ickworth House, Park and Gardens, The Northgate, Bury St Edmunds Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds Theatre Royal, and St Edmundsbury Cathedral all exhibiting.

There will also be goody bags for the first 100 people who attend and a chance to win some fantastic prizes in a draw and a tourism fair trail.

Sue Warren, brand and marketing manager for Bury St Edmunds and Beyond, said: “This is a great chance for people living in and around Bury St Edmunds to come along and find out about all the attractions right here on their doorstep.

“There will be goody bags, prizes and a trail plus a chance to meet some of the characters from Bury St Edmunds past.”

Accountants Larking Gowen will sponsor this year’s event.

Chris Scargill, of Larking Gowen, said: “We are delighted to be this year’s sponsor of Bury St Edmunds and Beyond’s Bringing Tourism Together Fair. “Tourism is an area of great importance to the national economy, employing a considerable number of people and supporting local economies throughout the country.”
