Police would like to speak a man who they believe is a vital witness to an alleged assault in Moulsham Street, Chelmsford

Two pairs of men were involved in an altercation which resulted in an 18-year-old Chelmsford man suffering cuts and bruises and a 19-year-old man, also from Chelmsford, suffering a fractured leg and dislocated ankle.

Police have arrested two men in connection with their investigation. A 33-year-old man from Braintree and a 44-year-old man from Colchester were both detained on suspicion of assault. They were interviewed and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries to report back on Tuesday, June 17.

Investigating officer PC Andy Tindale, of Chelmsford CID, said: “I understand that this man tried to intervene in the altercation and I believe he could provide valuable information on the circumstances of what took place. So far we have been unable to trace him and I would ask him to get in touch with me at Chelmsford CID on 101.”
