A horse rider had to be dramatically rescued after falling from her horse in a remote location.

The woman, who was believed to be in her late teens, was hacking in Galleywood near Chelmsford yesterday, January 26, when she fell, injuring her back and chest.

The ambulance service were called at 9.41am but due to the off road nature of the incident, the crew were not able to reach her by land.

A spokesperson for EEAST said: “The incident happened in an area that was extremely difficult to access so the ambulance crew made their way to the casualty on foot.

“They administered pain relief for her back and chest injuries and requested that the hazardous area response team (HART) deploy their Polaris vehicle, which is specifically used to rescue patients in off road locations.

“Upon arrival HART, the patient was immobilised to help prevent further injury and was taken to the waiting ambulance by the Polaris, where she was then taken to Broomfield Hospital on blue lights.”
