A woman was cut free by firefighters from the wreckage of a two-vehicle crash in Chelmsford today.

Two fire engines were called to the scene of the collision in Roxwell Road shortly before 2.30pm.

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews used specialist cutting equipment to free a woman trapped in a vehicle.

Paramedics treated her at the scene.

She did not suffer injuries thought to be life-threatening, an East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said.

The prime minister will issue a call for unity as she starts the countdown to Britain’s exit from the European Union today.
