Chelmsford: Police issue drugs warning after arrests are made at V Festival

19:00 15 August 2014

Government scientists are being sent to the V Festival to analyse samples of so-called legal highs amid renewed warnings against taking the party drugs.

Government scientists are being sent to the V Festival to analyse samples of so-called legal highs amid renewed warnings against taking the party drugs.

Revellers were today warned not to bring drugs on to the V Festival site after 16 people were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.

A number of those arrested are teenagers and they are currently being dealt with by officers at Hylands Park, Chelmsford.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Maleary said: “The people we have arrested are mostly under the age of 18. They were arrested as part of the routine stop checks and searches that officers are carrying out at the entrance sites.

“My message to anyone thinking of taking drugs to the event is a simple one – don’t. You will be caught. You won’t be allowed into the festival and you will face police action.”

Anybody who is a victim of crime, or spots anything suspicious, can report it to Essex Police at the mobile police station or by calling 101 or 999.

  • Why can't the police turn a blind eye, live and let live I say. It's not as if a load of stoners are going to cause any problems.
