A motorcyclist is in hospital after losing control and crashing at a busy roundabout in Clacton, causing rush-hour delays this morning.
The single-vehicle incident blocked the A133 in both directions between the St Johns Roundabout and Colchester Road junction on London Road for more than an hour.
An Essex Police spokesman said the male rider suffered a serious arm injury in the incident at 6.55am. He was taken to Colchester General Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
The section of the road was closed to allow oil spilt in the accident to be cleared, It was reopened at around 8.15am.
The force spokesman said: “A male rider on a blue Suzuki lost control of the machine while travelling along the road and fell off.
“He was taken to Colchester General Hospital by land ambulance with a serious but not life-threatening arm injury.
“A section of the carriageway closed reopened at 8.15am.”
