A 22-year-old woman had to go to hospital last night after she was bitten during an assault.

The attack took place yesterday at 6.20pm in Wellesley Road, Clacton.

The victim, who is from the town, was walking along the road with friends when a car pulled up alongside her.

The female driver got out and assaulted the woman, pulling her to the ground by her hair and biting the back of her head.

Because of the attack the woman needed hospital treatment for cuts and bruises.

Investigating officer Dc Dave Brooks said: “We believe some members of the public may have witnessed this incident as they offered to help the victim afterwards. I would ask anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with me.”

The car was described as purple or blue in colour and may have been a Vauxhall Corsa.
