FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in a bedroom believed to have been started by an electric blanket.
Crews were called to a ground floor flat in Castle Road, Clacton-on-Sea, just after 6pm last night.
Firefighters from the town and nearby Weeley extinguished the flames by 6.40pm. They also cleared smoke from the property.
No one was believed to have been hurt in the drama.
ADO Chris Noakes said the fire appeared to have been caused by an electric blanket.
“Older electric blankets can be a real problem and no one should use an electric blanket which is more than 10 years old,” he said.
