A man in his 50s was assaulted on the doorstep of his flat in Meredith Road, Clacton.

The incident happened at around 11.40am on June 6.

Police believe a passer-by may have intervened and asked the suspect to leave the address.

Officers want this person to come forward.

The victim did not require hospital treatment and suffered reddening to his neck.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed address has been spoken to by police regarding the incident.

The passer-by, or anyone else with information, is asked to contact PC Luke Perkins at Clacton police station on 101
