The coastguard was notified of a 28ft sailing boat that lost it’s mast off the coast of Harwich this afternoon.

They were notified of the incident at 1.42pm, when a trimaran was experiencing difficulties.

The Harwich inshore lifeboat towed the boat to the lifeboat station to clear the mast and then escorted the boat to Shotley Marina.

The lifeboat was back at the station at 3.13pm.
