PUBLISHED: 14:39 13 July 2014 | UPDATED: 14:39 13 July 2014

Police are investigating after a man was threatened with what was believed to be a knife as he walked along Balkerne Hill in Colchester in the early hours of Saturday.

The victim, aged 22 and from the town, was near the Hole in the Wall pub at around 3.30am when he was pushed to the floor and threatened.

The victim believed the man had a knife, but managed to get away and run home. He was not injured nor had any of his possessions taken from him.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 11ins to 6ft tall with short, dark, spikey hair.

He was in his early 20s and has what has been described as a slim, pointed face with a large nose and prominent cheek bones. He had thin eyebrows and stubble.

He was wearing a plain black hooded top with a large pocket on the front, dark blue jeans and white trainers. He was last seen in the area of Balkerne Hill and was alone.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Essex Police on 101. They can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
