A man seen walking naked through the centre of Colchester has been arrested by police.

Officers received several calls shortly before 11am today after the man was spotted by members of the public.

A man, in his 40s and from Colchester, was arrested in St Peter’s Street in the Dutch Quarter on suspicion of assaulting two police officers who were sent to detain him.

An Essex Police spokesman said the man was taken to hospital for treatment for an injury.
