Part of an Essex nature reserve which was closed to the public during investigations into the murder of university student Nahid Almanea has been re-opened.

Three lakes in the Salary brook Trail were closed while officers searched them and work at two of the lakes has now been completed and people will be able to access them.

The Salary Brook Trail pathway has remained closed, however, so specialist search and forensic teams can continue with their work.

Chief Inspector Richard Phillibrown, Colchester District Commander, said: “We have received excellent support throughout this investigation from the whole community.

“We appreciate their patience whilst the forensic searches continue. We would also urge anyone with information, no matter how small you might think, to contact us.”

If you have any information in relation to the deaths of Nahid or James Attfield, call 01245 282103.
