A pedestrian suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Colchester early today.
Police were called to Cowdray Avenue, at the junction with North Station Road, at about 1.30am following reports that a pedestrian had been in collision with a Nissan Terrano while he was crossing the road on the roundabout.
The pedestrian, a 29-year-old man from Worcester, was taken by ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridgeshire, where he is being treated for a serious head injury.
The car driver, a 52-year-old man from the Colchester area, was not injured.
The road was closed until 4.20am while investigations were carried out and the scene was cleared.
