A teenager from Suffolk has been charged with raping a 16-year-old girl in Colchester.

The 16-year-old boy from the Sudbury area is accused of carrying out the assault in woodland off Clairmont Road on Sunday, February 9.

He was arrested a few hours after the attack and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The teenager has now been charged with one count of rape and is on police bail until his appearance at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 22.
