Colchester: Bus hits scaffolding

18:21 26 November 2012

Archant

EMERGENCY services were called after a bus crashed into scaffolding in Colchester town centre.

The First double-decker, number 70 service, collided with scaffolding surrounding a building on the corner of Head Street and St John’s Street.

Essex police were alerted to the accident at just after 4.45pm.

A spokeswoman said: “A bus has hit some scaffolding which has now become unsafe.

“The bus has been damaged but no-one on board the bus was injured.” Scaffolders also attended the scene to make the metalwork safe in order for the bus to be moved.

Head Street has now fully reopened following the crash.
