Historical programmes celebrating Colchester’s Oyster Feast are to go on sale at auction this week.
Auctioneers and valuers Reeman and Dansie are selling around 20 programmes dating back to 1901 as part of its ephemera sale, which is taking place at its rooms on Severalls Business Park on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Collectors consultant Michael Bowles said the programme collection is expected to fetch up to £100.
He added: “They are colourful pieces and many have a comical tone, and they would appeal to anyone interested in Colchester’s social history.”
Other items in the sale include postcards with photographs showing the surrender of German U-boat crews at Harwich in 1918 and the funeral of Captain Fryatt at Dovercourt in 1919.
