A Northumberland man is due to appear in court next month after he was charged with drink-driving in Colchester.

The driver of a beige Kia Sedona lost control of the car while manoeuvring it on Osborne Street and struck the window of an Indian restaurant shortly before 4.30am today.

Peter Cole was arrested at the scene and later charged with one count driving while under the influence of alcohol. The 40-year-old scaffolder, from Adderlane Road, in Prudhoe, is currently on police bail prior to his appearance at Colchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 15.
