A man was cut free from the wreckage of a car which was involved in a collision on an Essex road this evening.

The crash happened at about 8.50pm on the B1026 in Layer de la Haye, near Colchester.

Police closed the road in both directions while two fire crews from Colchester released an injured man. He was left in the care of an ambulance crew but the extent of his injuries is unclear.
