Police are appealing for more information after an assault in Colchester last month.

A 21-year-old man from north Essex was attacked by a number of men outside the Subway food outlet on Queen Street, in Colchester between 3am and 3.30am on Saturday, December 21 and reportedly kicked whilst on the ground.

The victim was taken to Colchester General Hospital and has received treatment for a series of facial fractures which will require further specialist treatment.

Officers are keen to speak to any other witnesses who have not yet come forward.

Investigating officer, PC Yusseff Rahmani-Manesh, said: “It is clear that there were a vast number of people in the road at the time and I really need to speak with them. I particularly need to speak to a taxi driver who had stopped at the top of the road as the assault took place. He was driving a dark Vauxhall taxi with roof bars.”

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The men, a 19-year-old from east London and a 19-year-old from Colchester, have been released on police bail until February pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information in connection with this assault is urged to contact detectives at Colchester police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
