The six people arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of James Attfield have all been released on police bail.

Mr Attfield, 33, was found fatally injured with more than 100 stab wounds close to Lower Castle Park off Guildford Road, Colchester, at around 6am on Saturday, March 29.

Six people from across Essex and Suffolk were arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident - five on suspicion of murder, another on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

A 25-year-old-woman from Southend and an 18-year-old man of no fixed address have been bailed until September 15, while three other people also arrested on suspicion of murder - a 57-year-old man from Colchester, a 27-year-old man from Colchester and a 27-year-old woman from Colchester - have been bailed until September 24.

A 23-year old-woman from Ipswich arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice has also been bailed until September 15.

Two other men, both aged 33 and of no fixed address, remain on police bail pending further enquiries until Wednesday, September 17, having also been arrested in connection with James Attfield’s murder.
