Colchester: Teen re-arrested on relation to James Attfield murder released on bail

A teenager re-arrested by police on suspicion of the murder of Colchester man James Attfield has been released on police bail.

Mr Attfield was discovered in Castle Park, off Guildford Road, on the morning of March 29 with 102 stab wounds. He died a short time later at the scene.

Police have announced today that an 18-year-old man who was re-arrested in relation to the crime earlier this year has been released on bail until September 15.

Nine people have so far been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 25-year-old woman from Southend is also currently on bail until September 15.

A 31-year-old man from Colchester who was arrested on August 7 is on bail until September 23 and three other people arrested on suspicion of murder, two men aged 27 and 57 and a 27-year-old woman have been bailed until September 24.

An Ipswich woman, 23, arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice is on bail until September 15 and two men, aged 33 of no fixed address, are on bail until late September.
