Colchester: Witnesses needed after female police officer is punched in the face while making arrest

Witnesses are being sought after a female police officer was punched in the face while making an arrest outside a bridal shop in Colchester.

Officers were on a routine patrol when they spotted a fight taking place in Queen Street at about 3.30am on Sunday, June 29.

The officers intervened and were making the arrest when one of the officers was hit. She was taken to Colchester General Hospital and is now recovering at home.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed address and a 29-year-old man from Colchester were arrested in connection with the fight and are currently on police bail until August 12.

Anyone with information is asked to call Colchester’s neighbourhood policing team on 101.
