Villagers have been learning about the history of families who had lived in their community over hundreds of years.

The exhibition, which is being held in Debenham Sports & Leisure centre, has attracted people eager to find out the stories behind their own families.

Organiser Suzie Morley has so far transcribed 23,000 records of families who have lived in the area, to her genealogy website which is part of the project.

“I’ve been doing the research for probably five to six years,” she said.

“The exhibition really started because I wanted to find information about our chaps who served in the First World War from the village ready for next year. It occurred to me if you do the exhibition this year it might bring people out of the woodwork.”

The exhibition is running until Monday. Go to www.debenhamfamilyhistory.org.uk for records from the village.
