Suffolk and Essex set to be hottest in UK – before thunderstorms hit

The region is set for another hot and humid day - with temperatures set to be the hottest in the UK at 30C or higher.
Phil Garner, forecaster at Weatherquest, said: “I don’t think there’s going to be anywhere hotter than the eastern region.
“We look set to be the hottest in the UK.
Mr Garner said today and tomorrow were likely to be two “very hot and settled days”.
“It will be another fine, hot and sunny day today, he said.
“There will be plenty of sunshine around and not a great deal of cloud.
“We will see afternoon temperatures of 30-31C (86-78.8F) in inland areas with it still probably reaching 23-25C (73.4-77F) on the coast.
“It is fresh at the moment but will become more humid throughout the day.
“It will remain fine and dry throughout the night.”
While tomorrow is set to start out another hot and sunny day with temperatures as high as 32C, thunderstorms could hit on Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, marking the start of fresher conditions.
“Wednesday should be a much fresher day with highs of 25C (77F) and then Thursday and Friday we should se temperatures of around 22-23C 71.6-73.4F),” he added.
Cooler conditions are expected to remain until the middle of next week when another high pressure front returns.
