David Cameron and Nick Clegg finally agree on something - MPs should not get a pay hike

The Prime Minister pretty much ruled out an East Anglian break this year for fear he would be accused of having too many holidays.

David Cameron will instead be going to flood-hit Cornwall for the fifth year in a row.

He came under fire last year for hitting a holiday tally of four by the summer, when he was snapped trying to answer to the age-old conundrum of how to change gracefully into a swimming costume while on the beach.

Questioned on whether he would come on holiday to the East he said: “Knowing the lobby (corp of political journalists) as I do, if I had too many summer holidays you would all be jumping on the ‘Prime Minister having too many summer holidays bandwagon’.”

There have been reporters in the Spanish press that he is taking his family on holiday to Lanzarote over Parliament’s Easter break, although he said yesterday he will be spending time with his in-laws.

A Downing Street spokesman said they never confirmed the PM’s movements for security reasons.

  • I know the people who work hard deserve a holiday but does he deserve his holiday?

  • That's a pity. When some chap called Gordon Brown had a holiday at Shadingfield Hall, Beccles (NOT Southwold), he didn't last long as Prime Minister thereafter. We need more of that Suffolk charm to rid our nest of this Etonian cuckoo.

  • As usual the lefties showing us they can actually write. Lets go back to the good old Labour days when they creates 1 million new jobs, unfortunately they were ALL Public sector with retirement at 60 and a fat pension. Lets vote for Ed Balls so he can bring this country to it'd knees again. Nobody has ever been better off under a Labour government apart from the Layabouts and scroungers.

  • Although the PM did not have to tell us this, as he said on radio days ago that he will spent Easter with his wife's parents, it is at a great relief that we receive this information. No doubt we will have to entertain other party politicians over the next month trying to make out that they care about us. Do ask them how much British business earns in Europe, well, until the referendum that is, who can know what will happen if we are not in the room to listen and speak up for our interests?

  • If Downing St don't confirm his movements because of security considerations can we assume he is not going to his in-laws after all? As he has said he isn't coming here on holiday does it mean unfortunately he might be?
