FIRE crews were called to Elmsett in the early hours after a fallen tree knocked live power cables into the road.

One appliance from Hadleigh was mobilised at 6.58am following reports of electricity cables that had fallen onto Hadleigh Road in Elmsett.

The live cables had come down due to a fallen tree. Fire Control reported the incident to UK Power Networks, while the crew in attendance stood by to ensure no injury or fire situation occured.

UK Power Networks and the local council highways department attended the scene and the fire crews were back at their station by 8.39am.
