Slimmers in Elmswell are celebrating losing a staggering 26 stone between them.
Kayleigh Drake is four stone lighter, Shirley Parcell has lost three stone, Gemma Chapman is six-and-a-half stone lighter and Laura Chapman has lost five stone while Becky Alderton, the quartet’s Slimming World consultant in the village, has shed seven-and-a-half stone.
Kayleigh, Shirley, Gemma and Laura were nominated by their fellow members as the people who inspire them every week with their commitment to their weight loss and the support they give to all members.
Laura, from Hawstead, has dropped from 15 stone 6.5lb to 10 stone 6.5lb in 10 months and has been named the Elmswell 7.30 group’s Woman of the Year 2013. She was voted by the 30 members to be their representative in the regional competition.
Laura, 30, joined Slimming World in August 2012 and said: “I started to put on weight on from my early teens and when me and my fiancée set a date for our wedding I decided I needed to lose weight. I joined because of my sister Gemma (also nominated) after I saw how well she was doing and all the lovely food she could eat. I never have to go hungry and after losing five stone I’m the happiest I’ve been.”
Now Laura will go forward to the regional finals of the competition, putting her in the running for the national Slimming World Woman of the Year 2013 which will be announced in November.
