Several roads in north Essex experienced flash flooding this morning.
The A120 flooded at Great Dunmow both ways around Dunmow South.
The A1017 flooded both ways between the Rectory Road and Bridge Street junctions.
Newbiggen Street in Thaxted also flooded both ways at the Margaret Street junction. Firefighters were called to the village after a road collapsed in the heavy rainfall. Around 20 properties flooded and firefighters have been pumping water from them since 3am. Crews also reported cars stranded in flood water.
A yellow weather warning for rain from the Met Office is in place in the East of England. Heavy thundery showers are expected.
