Essex: Man arrested on suspicion of rape in nightclub is released without charge

A Braintree man who was arrested in connection with a rape allegation in a Basildon nightclub has been released.

A then 18-year-old woman from Romford reported she was raped in a seating area behind the DJ stand between 1-2am on June 30, 2013 inside Liquid at Festival Leisure Park.

On August 8, 2013, a 20-year-old man from Braintree was arrested in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire on suspicion of rape and later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

These inquiries have now been completed and he has been released without charge.

The investigation has been closed.
