Essex: Queen Elizabeth II bridge to close before midday

The Queen Elizabeth II bridge near the Dartford tunnel will close today in anticipation of bad weather.

The bridge will close just before midday and is expected to remain shut for around 16 hours until 4am on Tuesday.

The tunnel will remain open, but congestion is expected. Police are advising motorists to avoid the Thurrock and Dartford areas of Essex and Kent.
