A busy Essex road has re-opened following an earlier two-car collision.

Police, paramedics and firefighters from Manningtree, Clacton and Weeley were sent to the incident, on the A120 in Elmstead Market, near Colchester, at about 11am today.

The firefighters released two people who had become trapped following the collision, which happened on the westbound carriageway.

They were released by about 12.20pm and left in the care of the ambulance service.

The road was opened to traffic again at about 2pm.
