A man has been going round Felixstowe on a bicycle targeting people holding mobile phones.
The man, who is described as white, of medium build, in his mid 20s to 30s, was seen in Hamilton Road at about 11.15am yesterday.
A 30-year-old man was walking along making a call on his mobile when the man on a bike cycled past him and grabbed hold of the phone.
The walker initially managed to hang onto the phone but it then dropped to the ground with the offender cycling away empty handed.
The second incident happened a few minutes later, around 11.20am, in Cobbold Road behind the Tesco store. A 25-year-old woman was walking along with her mobile phone in her hand when she heard someone cycling up behind her. Seconds later the phone was snatched from her hand by a man and he then cycled away.
The offender involved was wearing a dark hooded top, dark coloured trousers and tinted glasses. He cycled away on a dark coloured mountain bike weaving between pedestrians.
Police are following up several lines of enquiry to trace the man involved but are asking anyone who saw what happened or anyone with information to call them on 101. Or call Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
