Firefighters tackled another field blaze in Suffolk this afternoon as the spell of hot and dry weather continues.

Crews from Bury St Edmunds, Mildenhall, Clare, Haverhill, Wickhambrook, Ixworth, Newmarket and Cambridge were called to the blaze in Moulton, near Newmarket, at 3.50pm.

The fire was under control by 5.41pm and officials said the cause is unknown at this time.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: “Great effort from our crews @SuffolkFire supported by a crew from @cambsfrs this afternoon dealing with a fieldfire in Moulton.

“The incident now concluded, cause unknown at this time. Please take extra care this weekend during this extended period of hot weather.”

The latest fire comes after several incidents in the region this week, including fires at Brandon Country Park, Mildenhall Woods, Hengrave, Bramford and Brantham.

The incidents prompted fire chiefs to encourage the public to be wary of the risk of fire in hot and dry conditions.
