Crews have tackled a fire in Barton Mills where the wheels of a fuel tanker were alight.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called today, Saturday November 11, at around 10.18am, to the incident in Mildenhall Road.
The incident was logged as involving ‘hazardous materials’ so eight fire engines were mobilised to attend.
However, only four fire crews were needed to extinguish the fire.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “Four engines were sent to the scene, three from Newmarket and one from Mildenhall.
“There was a wheel of a fuel tanker on fire.”
Fire crews called a stop to the incident at around 10.45am.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers had attended the scene in case road closures were necessary or the area needed to be evacuated.
He added that no roads were closed as a result of the fire.
