The woman and dog were stuck in the car as water was rising up to the driver’s seat and over the front of the vehicle.

Police and the fire service were called to the road at about 7.25am in Risby.

The water was four-feet deep and got up to the steering wheel.

A force spokeswoman said she was “hanging” from the Ford Ka’s window to avoid the water.

West Suffolk has experienced the worst of the wet weather with more expected to come over the weekend.
