A former criminal law lecturer at the University of East Anglia is to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on charges relating to more than 350 indecent videos of children.

Julian Myerscough, of Alexandra Road, Lowestoft, made his first appearance on the allegations before the town’s North East Suffolk Magistrates Court.

The 52-year-old is accused of three counts of making indecent photograph/pseudo photographs of a child. The charges all relate to September 26, 2013. One of the accusations is said to involve 235 videos of children. The second allegation relates to nine videos and the final charge is said to involve 38 videos.

Myerscough is also facing one count of doing an act prohibited by a sexual offences prevention order without reasonable excuse. This allegation relates to the same date.

No plea was entered during Myerscough’s hearing and his case was committed to Ipswich Crown Court. Myerscough was released on unconditional bail.
