Trevor Ayers host the Auction of Ed Sheeran

Trevor Ayers host the Auction of Ed Sheeran's donated clothing at Sue Ryder Care in Framlingham.

Fans of Ed Sheeran squeezed inside a crowded Suffolk charity shop yesterday, hoping to bag an item of the star’s clothing and raise cash for health and social care.

Sue Ryder Care, in the
singer’s hometown of Framlingham, auctioned off another load of the many items dropped off at three charities by Ed’s parents last month.

More than 100 lots went under the hammer, including belts, shoes, hats and T-shirts, raising £1,222 and taking the total raised for charity by Ed’s generous donation to more than £11,500.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) raised £6,321.17 from an online auction, with about half the items bought by fans from overseas. The charity has also saved some items for the opening of its new shop in Framlingham this spring.

At Framlingham’s St Elizabeth Hospice, a 100-piece collection of Ed’s clothing raised about £4,000 from a shop sale and a five-day online auction.

In May, Suffolk Family Carers received about 15 items of clothing, which it plans to auction on eBay.

Jacquie Bell, manager of Sue Ryder Care, said: “Everything went well and about 40 people turned up. We’re very pleased.

“We still have about 20 items which we are selling on eBay, including a Game of Thrones T-shirt that Ed wore onstage with Taylor Swift, which has a reserve of £300.”

The highest selling item of the day was a hoodie, also worn onstage by Ed, which went for £83.
