Hundreds gathered to pay tribute to the young father who lived in Beccles with his wife and young daughter.

The 23-year-old died while competing at Blaxhall Circuit near Woodbridge on September 13.

Organised by Mr Pattison’s close friends and family, the event started with a morning of racing. A minute’s silence was followed by an emotional parade lap in the afternoon.

Shaun Southgate, one of Mr Pattison’s best friends, said: “We made so much noise – I hope he heard us up there. He was the type of guy to make a lot of noise and we did that.

“The whole day blew all expectations. People turned out in their hundreds. We have shown how close motocross riders are. We are a tight family and when something so tragic happens, we may be racers on the track, but we come together and the past is history.

“I would like to thank everybody who came and paid tribute to Tom. The guys who run the track at Blythburgh put their heart and soul into the track on Saturday because it wasn’t looking good, but we turned it around.

“Tom’s family were overwhelmed. I came up with the idea and they got behind it because they know how much Tom loved motocross and how much he loved being at this track.

“So to see all his family here was overwhelming. It was a great send-off for Tom.”

The event also acted as a fundraiser to support Mr Pattison’s young family. A JustGiving page launched last week has raised more than £4,000 and memory stickers were sold at the event in exchange for a small donation.
