Early learners went entirely bonkers for a giant Alice in Wonderland themed tea party marking a special anniversary.

Children, parents and staff made sure they weren’t late for the very important date at Buttons and Bows Nursery, which celebrated its 10th birthday with fancy dress fun and games.

Everything about the occasion evoked Lewis Carroll’s nonsense novel and its classic Disney animated adaptation.

All manner of curious creatures and characters turned out to congratulate the charity childcare provider in Aster Road, Ipswich.

With more than 200 people on the guest list, the two-hour bash included a sit down tea party and lots of party games, including pin the teeth on the Cheshire Cat, find the White Rabbit, croquet and the Mad Hatter hat toss.

Crowns were created for the Queen of Hearts, bunny rabbits got lots of affection in the petting corner, and a time capsule was buried to be dug up in the future.

Nursery manager Stephanie Moss said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response from our parents to attend the party – so much so we have had to borrow additional tables.

“What better way to celebrate the last 10 years than with a giant party with all our families and staff.

“The nursery has certainly come a long way in the last 10 years and we were delighted to have all our hard work recently recognised by Ofsted who awarded us outstanding in every area.

“We look forward to facing further exciting opportunities in the next 10 years.”

Buttons and Bows is part of the Bows and Arrows Group, an independent charity owning four nurseries across Ipswich – Buttons and Bows, Wigwams, The Children’s Triangle and Little Learners.
