Ipswich Waterfront in the fog Fidel Meraz

A thick layer of fog clung to Suffolk this morning, causing a string of accidents around the county.

The fog failed to lift as rush hour came to an end and hung around for much of the morning, making it difficult to see more than a few feet ahead in some parts of Suffolk.

Readers have been sharing photos of the fog from where they are.
We have been sent a photo of Southwold Pier, draped in a thick haze, with the end barely visible from the beach.

Tony Wollard sent us an eerie photo of Christchurch Park and Robert Lightfoot sent us photos from last night showing the fog burning orange in the glow of a streetlight.

Our photographer Phil Morley was in Felixstowe to capture the mist over the sea, and also shot cars travelling in the fog along the A12 and A14.
