A Suffolk forest has held one of many ‘Poppy Runs’ taking place across the country, raising money for the Royal British Legion.

The 5k poppy run aims to raise as much money as possible for the Poppy Appeal, which supports British serving and ex-serving men and women in the armed forces.

The course took in the sights and sounds of Rendlesham Forest as runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities, took to the 5k route.

The event at Rendlesham was organised by Suffolk Coastal District Council’s active communities team.

Everyone who entered received a commemorative Poppy run t-shirt, and as runners crossed the finish line, they were rewarded with an exclusive Poppy Run medal.

Nationally, Poppy Run organisers hope by 2018 to host 100 runs across the country, and to have as many as 50,000 participants raising £1million annually within the next ten years.
