ASK this group of acting friends if their latest performance is an entertaining hit and they are sure to reply “Oh, yes it is!”

The Actors’ Corner group have been putting on shows at Felbridge Court, in Woodbridge, since former professional actress Hilary Semmens moved in three years ago and persuaded some of her neighbours to try.

The group quickly grew in membership and has since performed their own versions of plays, and original works by Mrs Semmens, who also wrote, produced and appeared in the newest show, a panto called Deep and Crisp and Cinders, described as a “mish-mash of collective pantomime ideas”.

Among the cast was 100-year-old Fred Duce, playing Good King Sensesless.

The Three Witches were played by Pamela Percy, 70, Joan Williams, 95, and 99-year-old Joan Hammond (also known as AJ).

Great-grandmother Mrs Semmens, 91, played Goodmye Page, while Frank Lincoln, 87, filled the role of Baron Hardup, and Christine Simkin, 66, portrayed Cinderella.

Completing the cast of players were David Burnside, 80, and Michael Keeley, 75, hamming it up as the Ugly Sisters, Deadly Nightshade and Fleabone, while estate manager Beverly Head also got involved in the panto action, playing Father Christmas.
