A gold cup featuring a memorial engraving has been stolen from a church in Goldhanger.

St Peter’s Church in Church Street was entered between 9am and 11.45am on Saturday, February 22, when the gold gilt ciborium consecrated cup was taken.

It is engraved on the underside of the foot of the cup with “To the glory of God and in loving memory of Hilda Price 7/5/79 aged 82 and Francis Page died 23/01/82 aged 93”.

Two small silver plated and gold gilt pyxes were also stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Lea Keene at Maldon police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
