Paramedics were called to the incident in Boundary Road at just before 3.45pm yesterday.

An East Anglian Air Ambulance spokesman said the man, believed to be in his 40, was “conscious and alert” when paramedics arrived but said his leg was “clearly broken”.

He was taken to James Paget University Hospital for further treatment.

In a statement, the spokesman said: “A man suffered a serious leg injury after being hit by a load of bricks that had fallen from a forklift.

“He was conscious and alert when we arrived but his leg was clearly broken.

“He was collared and boarded to protect his spine. We also placed a strap around his leg to protect the area and administered pain relief.”
