AN accident at a Suffolk level crossing is causing long rail delays this evening.
A car collided with barriers while crossing tracks in Gipping Road, Great Blakenham, around 5.17pm.
It was causing delays of up to 20 minutes on main line services between Suffolk and London, as well as those on the Ipswich to Cambridge line.
Network Rail had engineers at the scene working to fix the problem and have now fixed the barriers, but several services have been affected by the knock-on delays.
Traffic also built up in both directions along Gipping Road between the junctions for Chapel Lane and Plummers Dell, but cars are now flowing freely.
